The internet searching technology employs a powerful searching algorithm to find the required information. Adsense, the advertisement application of Google has become popular by its technique.

Google reached the top by the acquisitions and partnerships with other firms. The survival of Google is because of fulfilling the various areas of services required by all over the world. Google Search Vs Yahoo Search

Search engine is the doorway for internet. Still the competition in this area is healthy with more and more services offering firms appear. Even though fresh firms come out with excellent search logic they can’t overtake the two giants Google and Yahoo. There Search Engine Optimization techniques, advertisement approach with pay per click, video sharing websites are some features that hold them top on the board.

Google have a peculiar vision that is depicted in their home search page. They don’t allow any ads in their home page in order to get the page faster than any other search engine. This is their specialty even they have all sorts of applications and products in various fields. Both of them have separate domains in all area such as news, maps, finance, sports, travel, games, movies, etc.

Search engine of both the organizations are strong in security against the spyware and worms. Their extraordinary firewall with strong antivirus tools provides secured search engine to their users. Yahoo launched an advanced search tool which will give precise and brief search of the given topic.

Hence there will be healthy competition between the giants which will give us superior search service.

Why most people love Google search but not yahoo search?

Google is loved by the internet user because of its simplicity. All the products and application given by Google are in an organized manner. When users go for a search the home page will be very simple without any ads, tabs, sidebars, frames, etc. It will contain only the search text box with button and links for faster download. Also the search page of a topic will not consist of too many items and advertisements. They will give importance to the searched content rather than other options and services. Whereas Yahoo designed their search home page with all the service and options packed in that.

Yahoo search will look fashionable with striking templates, frames, tabs and links. But when searching for a specific keyword or topics these options are not required. It will only lead to slow access of the expected page. Ads should magnetize user to visit the content linked with that rather than making a compulsory click. This is what is happening in Yahoo which is filled with lots of advertisements and service. If user needs a service then he will access it through its specific domain address.

Hence Google search made an impact by keeping simple search engine.

Google Feeling Lucky?

You’ll find most of Google’s search engines on the main page. By default, the page displays a general Web search, but more specialized engines are only a click away. If you’re interested in a particular news story, for example, you can type your search term into the page’s only field and then click News. Google’s new search engine will scour the Web for relevant articles and then display them in a format similar to the one it uses to display other search results.

Most of the time, you’ll probably click the Google Search button (or press the ENTER key) to start your Web search, but if you want to go straight to the most relevant site Google finds (the site that would otherwise stand at the top of the search results page), simply click the

I’m Feeling Lucky button. On the other hand, users who want to see a full list of search results and want to make sure they’re using the best search terms can find some great options in the Advanced Search area, which is one of the few sections of the Web site that boasts a link from the main page. This section offers special fields that help users better describe what they’re looking for. Keep in mind that each engine has a unique Advanced Search section.

Restricting the Size of Input Data

MySQL enables you to control the length of a particular field by adding a size modifier to the field data type. Now, the way MySQL works, values greater than the specified length are automatically truncated, with no notification or exception generated to let the user know about the change. This is disturbing, because it means that user data can easily get corrupted without the user’s awareness. Now, if a user enters the user name jamesscott, MySQL will automatically (and silently) truncate it to eight characters and save it as jamessco. Obviously, any subsequent attempt by the user to log in as jamesscott will fail, as MySQL will have no record of that particular username. One way around this is, of course, to set sensible length restrictions for your database fields. However, this must be coupled with application-level input validation of entered data, to alert users if their input goes above the prescribed limit and to allow them to modify it.

Anti-virus Check

This feature is not what you might think! It doesn’t check for viruses. It checks to see if there are any virus protection programs currently running before beginning. If there are, the setup dialog box will inform you disable the software. Installation programs don’t like those little TSRs running as a background during the setup. Windows 98 will make changes to the boot sector during the install process. Most virus protection programs are designed to prevent this, therefore it could cause the installation to fail. It is better to stop before you begin rather then you were half way into the install only to be halted because of TSR conflicts.

PC MAINTENANCE CHECK LIST

Clean the Keyboard. Use canned air to blow out any loose debris. With the power off, tip or turn the Keyboard upside down and carefully use the palm of your hand to strike the keyboard several times.

Clean the floppy drive. In addition to using canned air for the floppy drive, use a 3.5″ floppy drive cleaning kit. It consists of a cleaning disk and bottle of solution that you apply to the disk. First, apply the solution to the cleaning disk. Second, insert the cleaning disk into the floppy drive. Third, type: DIR A: (or DIR B:), which will spin the disk repeat this three times.

Reboot the system. If the work stations are left on all the time, reboot the system to force a memory reset and to make sure the machine will boot correctly.

Clean the mouse. It never hurts to make sure the mouse is free of dust and grime. Use isopropyl alcohol to clean the ball and the internal rollers to remove any grease, oil, and dust that may have accumulated.

Check the power sources. Make sure systems are plugged into protected outlets or power strips, if not uninterrupted power supplies.

Check the fan. Remember to check that the CPU’s cooling fan is working and the airflow is not impeded by dust. Use canned air to blow out any loose dust. Blow the dust out from the inside of the supply. Exercise extreme caution when working on an open power supply.

Change Passwords. It is a good security precaution to change your system passwords periodically.

Check the Printers. Print a test page on your printer. Make sure the printers are producing clean copies, and that the toner cartridges aren’t about to run out.

Update the anti-virus software.

Check the operating system and applications. Update your OS and applications with the latest service packs or updates.

Check the connections. Make sure all the plugs are snug in their connections. Make sure you are using a surge protector and not a string of extension cords to power their machines.

Clean the screens. Use the appropriate screen-cleaning cloth or solution. Update drivers are needed. Make sure you have installed the latest drivers for printers, modems, sound cards, video cards, and other devices.

Create or update the boot disk. Every Windows user should have a boot disk and every NT client should have an emergency repair disk. NT clients need to have their emergency repair disks upgraded with the RDISK/S command every time there’s a change in the network setup, such as the addition of new users or new devices.

Check browser history and cache files. Check that the user history files and Internet cache settings ate set properly. Delete the cache files and history files then reset the history files to no more that longer. By freeing up the cache, downloads from the Web actually speed up since there is more space available to store the temporary files.

confirm that backups are being done. Ask users when their last backups were done. Make sure they are rotating their disks. Remind them to verify the backups by trying to restore a sample file or folder.

Delete files that begin with a tilde. When cleaning the system of garbage files, check for any files beginning with a tilde (~). Make sure that all your application programs, such as word-processing, spreadsheet, and graphics programs, are closed first, since sometimes the temporary file you are currently viewing uses a tilde. If the application programs are closed, the tilde files can be deleted.

Clean out Windows temporary Internet files.

Empty the recycle Bin.

Delete .tmp files. Before running CHKDSK, SCANDISK or DEFRAG, delete all. *.tmp files that have been created prior to the current day.

Delete old .ZIP files. Users tend to unzip the files but then leave the zipped file on their computer.

Woman burnt to death

It was the ultimate expression of road rage. A furious woman driver died after ramming another vehicle and spinning her wheels so fast that her own car burst into flames.

Serena Sutton-Smith, 54, burnt to death after refusing to get out of her Vauxhall Nova as she sat with her foot flat on the accelerator.

She spun the wheels so fast that her tyres disintegrated and the metal rims sent a shower of sparks into the engine, igniting the brake fluid and setting the car on fire.

“The car’s front wheels were spinning and there was loads of revving. I could see a biggish person at the wheel and there was movement in the car. Flames were coming from underneath the car and I thought the person might be trapped inside although I couldn’t hear any shouting.

“I opened the driver’s door wide. It opened easily. The person looked at me, it was a big built woman. I said ’You’ve got to get out of the car. It’s going to burst into flames’.

Tsuyoshi Kusanagi Arrested

The Japanese media world has been plunged into chaos by the humiliating arrest of Tsuyoshi Kusanagi — a member of SMAP, the biggest, best-loved and most successful boy band in Japanese pop history.

At 3am in Hinokicho Park just outside Tokyo Midtown in Roppongi, police found a naked Kusanagi dancing wildly making a scene (apparently not “dancing” exactly). When they told him to calm down he refused saying “What’s wrong with being naked?!” So they had no choice but to arrest him. He resisted and had to be “wrapped in a sheet” to be taken to the station. He is so ubiquitous on Japanese TV that the stations have been thrown into chaos today, in danger of having to cancel a good portion of their programming schedule and commercials (why? for some reason it is standard operating procedure to systematically blacklist a talent who runs afoul of authorities or even is caught cheating on a spouse).

50p tax on rich may be temporary, Labour ministers hint

The clear implication was that the 50p in the pound rate for the top one per cent who earn £150,000 could be abolished when the economy recovers.

"This is a pretty profound set of circumstances," the Chancellor repeatedly stressed to TV and radio studios to defend his package of measures which included tax raids on drinkers, smokers and drivers as well as record borrowing to make ends meet. "We have not seen it for generations, we have got to deal with it and I am confident that we will get through it," he added. Saying he had a "duty" to reduce borrowing, he went on: "I have also had to go to those people who have earned the most over the past few years, people in over £150,000, and say, 'you are going to have to contribute a bit more while we resolve this situation.'
