Anti-virus Check

This feature is not what you might think! It doesn’t check for viruses. It checks to see if there are any virus protection programs currently running before beginning. If there are, the setup dialog box will inform you disable the software. Installation programs don’t like those little TSRs running as a background during the setup. Windows 98 will make changes to the boot sector during the install process. Most virus protection programs are designed to prevent this, therefore it could cause the installation to fail. It is better to stop before you begin rather then you were half way into the install only to be halted because of TSR conflicts.
